The Spectator’s Imperfect Vision
In this series of analogue photographs, I overlay negatives to show how things in nature once were and how they should be vs. how they have become corrupt now. Sometimes we don’t even realize things are not right, because they have been that way for as long as we can remember. We have either grown used to these things or simply do not know any better. I overlay flowers growing at the bottom of a metal tower to show how though nature may be interrupted, it never stops. I overlay a beautiful scenic forest view with power lines to show how nature and modern technology sometimes coexist. I overlay an egg crate with a “private” beach to show not only the gap in the working and upperclass, but the shrinking amount of public beach access in Massachusetts. These images want to be read in multiple layers as much as they want to be seen as a singular image.
